 DELAY AND CANCELLATION

Ishita Datta| 03-Sept-2010

In recent times, fashion weeks and their organising bodies have gone  through a lot of questioning, especially on the basis of  of  event preparation. And this year proved no different, hence the grabbing headlines in the newspapers and tabloids recently. We asked the people in the fraternity, what according to them, are the basic criteria one should take into account before finalising an event.

Simran Kaur Mundi, model, : We are the people who are a part of the spectators, but definitely there are experts working on the entire execution of the event. But yes, they are also human beings and sometimes, errors do happen. But I feel one should the minor details before the final go, also make sure you don’t mess up with the law!

Tanisha Mohan, socialite, : Foremost important thing to keep in mind…always get an approved legal notice, it will not give none a bad name, then why take chances! I feel, sometimes designers and organisers ignore legal particulars and end up facing these issues. A proper and basic pattern and set up should be followed to avoid last minute delays and cancellations.

Alpana-Neeraj, designer, :

More than the basic delay, I would say the government should sit up and take a notice. The fashion design industry need back up and recognition. Also, when government is changing any policy related to showbiz or anything pertaining to the entertainment industry that should be communicated to the designing industry too. The government should take this business seriously, as we need support from government. A list of precautions and steps to adhere should be circulated to the hotels and designing industry to avoid such situations.

Lisa Verma, choreographer, : To be honest, I’ve been working in this event industry from the past ten years, and I feel one can get the permission for the event 15-days prior. Rather than waiting till the last minute and face trouble, better to seek prior permissions and take the clarity beforehand.
