SHOWSTOPPERS AT BPFT

Nivedita Sharma| Posted On: 25-Aug-2010

Delhi was the third stop for the sixth edition of the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour after Chandigarh and Hyderabad so it was quite obvious for the tour to be star studded and glamorous. Keeping the expectation alive, Designer Shanatnu and Nikhil who was the first to start of the proceedings in the capital city brought the very handsome ‘Viveik Oberoi’ to walk for them. Displaying his new avatar in a bushy moustache, he displayed the signature style collection from the designer duo oozing with confidence. The slim fit coat in jet black with black trouser however, did not really sizzle up the things as was expected but the presence of the star itself created a buzz.

Next to showcase was Neeta Lulla, who despite being known as ‘Czarine of Indian Fashion’ and is one of the hot favourite amongst Bollywood, showcased the collection without any showstopper. The collection which comprised of draped dresses, tunics and tops paired with dhotis and flared pants, embellished dinner jackets layered over lacy shifts was showcased beautifully by the glamorous models. This ended the day 1 of BPFT Delhi.

Day 2 unlike the last day was one of the busiest schedules of the entire tour with designers like Nandita Mahtani, Surily, Goel, Wendell Rodricks and Gavin Miguel were all set to scorch the ramp on fire with their collection. The first to start of the show was Surily Goel for whom Anushka Sharma of ‘Rab ne Bana Di Jodi’ fame was seen wearing a knee length animal print dress which was a mix and match of khakis and silvers, golds, beiges, leopards and snake prints. Yes the inspiration of the designer was all about safari so the emphasis was all on dress with very minimal make-up completing the formalities.
I love the fact that Surily knows, a lot of people really go wrong with drapes and she has done it so right not only this outfit but also the other clothes that I saw on the models, which shows that she understands a woman’s body so very well and that comes across in her collections as well,” Anushka shared after the show.

Next comes Nandita Mahtani’s show and boy! What a show especially the showstoppers. Even after over a decade of marriage, two children and hectic work schedules - Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal seems to be madly in love with his wife Mehr Jessia as he made naughty eye contact with her during the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour ramp. Yes both proved the perfect showstoppers of the designer.

While Mehr flaunted an emerald green gown with a revealing back, Arjun looked hot as usual in a black tuxedo and a gold-sequined waistband, with his new, cropped hairdo adding a lot more oomph. Arjun’s silent interaction with Mehr through his eyes was there for all to see, not to forget their confidence, panache and attitude were proof enough of their once-upon-a-time supermodel status.

Next was the turn of Mugda Godse who replaced Perizaad (the showstopper at Hyderabad) for Gavin. The seductress was seen wearing a blue turquoise gown cum Lehanga( Mix of both) with full- on Sequine and embroidery work on it. No doubt the actress who started her career with modeling was confident enough and knew how to flaunt her inner self inside out. This ended the second day which witnessed faces like Susanne Roshan, Priya Chatwal,Kalyani Chawla, Tanisha Mohan, Sushma Puri and Many more.

Moving on to the final day which was definitely high on Glamour with fashionistas seen adorning the best of style. While Vikram Phadnis and Asmita Marwah didn't call for any showstoppers, the duo of Gunjan and Rahul draped TV actress Shilpa Agnihotri in a cyan coloured blue border sari, to walk the ramp for them. Their collection was inspired from the metaphoric jewels.

Mandira Wirk on the other had called the very own ‘Munni’, yes the model-turned-actress Malaika Arora Khan by her side - who sizzled the ramp in a red number by the designer. Her line was inspired by Jean Luc-Godard's classic 'Breathless'. And this ended the curtain raisor of Blendor’s Pride in Delhi which witnessed several celebrities and fashion divas across the country coming to be a part of this glamorous fashion extravaganza.
