Rajesh Pratap Singh is often called the Greta Garbo of Indian fashion and is one of the most reclusive Indian designers around today. Critically acclaimed for his design style, the designer grants few interviews, is almost never seen at parties and doesn’t even walk the runway at the end of his shows for the mandatory bow. As usual, the designer was reluctant when it comes to sharing his collection to be seen in the second edition of Van Heusen India’s Men’s Week but we managed to get the glimpse of what the designer has in store exclusively for our readers.
In the past, the designer showed his collection depicting the art and craft of Indian fashion and trade and this time the collection is inspired by ‘True Love, Prescribed medication and whatever’s left of R ‘n R’. “There are more than 120 bands in Delhi alone who still believe in rock and roll, or whatever is left of it. This collection celebrates the self acclaimed last standing true believers, and the times that saw the true spirit of RnR” shared the designer.
The highpoint of the entire range will be the treatment of Ajrek on the hues in the shades of vegetable, rust, jaisalmar, Indigo and red stone. When it comes to silhouettes, one can see Crushed disheveled Cargo jodhpurs, Fit and flare. Soft flower dressing, slim fit jackets with shorter lapels. Denim in its original avatar is the must watch attire to be seen in the show.“I have played with buttons which varies from Two, Three to Four” said designer.
According to the designer Shibori will form a classic menswear pinstripe. Also Ajrak prints with indigo converging into culled motifs and its derivatives is also one of the sought after part of the entire collection. When it comes to accessorization, well! The designer knows how to mix it up with the clothing and this is what can be seen on runway.
