To be blunt, it’s not that we don’t find people sexy with the bald look; the problem is that we have seen enough dim-witted ways of covering it. So, with zero element of surprise, the step to change the notion came from none other than those dazzling women, all geared up to set a new likeness of fashion without hair!
Society's norm of being a hirsute, especially when it comes to ‘first impressions’ in public, is somewhat of a hindrance. But then, this new generation of young people doesn’t want to look like everybody else. It's not cool to look like the most popular kid in school or a celebrity that everybody is talking about. being unconventional is the new hymn.
There have been enough case in point, for some known figure to follow the path with actress, Nandita Das and Shabana Azmi, both shaving it all off for their movie Water. The latest to register her name in the list is Anaitha Nair, the girl who hit the silver screen with Chak De India. A woman's vanity as said in the earlier lay is her free flowing tresses, but today a woman is proud to reveal her shaven head.
But is going clean headed really a trend or just a momentary image makeover? Is it one's attempt at trying to look different then the normal curls and colours? As per known hair stylist, Javed Habib, “A trend can never be created by a few selected set of people whom we can count on figure tips. Getting bald is largely a project based image for the artists and for others it’s a way of getting a fresh feeling from the daily domain of identicalness.”
The revolutionary look ‘by choice’ does attract quite a lot of attention, so while big hair has been the trademark of traditional sex kittens, it is now is very much evident that going bald is fast becoming the norm too.
There is no harm in making few heads turn when you walk down the street. After all, it’s about ‘hooking the eye’ and to make a statement which is heady!
