Cropped Pants…they look sexy, hot and present a very relaxed wear look. So what better than the chopped pants to make a cool casual statement this summer? Light, comfortable, breathable and stylish which are perfectly suitable for summer days. The recently concluded Van Heusen India Men’s Week witnessed an emerging trend of the cropped pants for men, which is definitely going to stay for the Spring/Summer 2011. Let’s know more about this trend from our designers and models.

Whether we talk about the three-forth pants, Capri pants, carrot pants or slightly cropped trousers, every single variation falls under the trend of cropped pants preferred by today’s contemporary male who lives and works in a global space. Model Namit Khanna who was seen sporting these cropped pants for various designers at the VHIMW shared, “They are cool and comfortable, works well with slip ons. I think they look nice if teamed up with a good pair of shoes, ankle length socks and slight dose of your legs! I don’t know if they are going to stay long, but during summers they are a good option to go for.”
Men, these days are open to experiments and trying more options rather than just sticking to the usual shirts and trousers. Some of the designers, who showcased various versions of cropped pants were Ashish N Soni, Troy Costa, Anky, Manoviraj Khosla, a few pieces shown by Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna, Karan Johar & Varun Bahl and few more.

Ashish N Soni and Troy Costa garnered loads of appreciation for their collection; they presented a classic version of the cropped pants in checks, while Samant Chauhan came out with the linen version of it woven in Bhagalpuri linen. If you think, they look only smart with a double-breasted waistcoat, check again…new age men are trying to look more cool but classy with mixing and matching of clothes. Designer Sanchita Ajjampur played well with the colours, and presented a semi-beach look. An edgy club wear look, with neon coloured tees made Manoviraj Khosla’s collection different. “I think the trend is in, but will keep on changing. These days it’s not just about three-forth or capris, but the length of the trouser which is getting shorter! I feel it’s good, men are getting a chance to show off their legs a little bit, also flaunt their socks.  After all, what’s the fun of keeping them covered, after wearing those trendy socks?”

And  how can one forget, they are apt for travelers types too . The assortment, Travelogue by Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna emphasized a rugged and rustic look of the cropped pants. Cargo pants are also great for frequent travelers! These pants have multiple oversized pockets that can carry everything you need including your wallet, passport and iPod!

A full length pant can be turned into a cropped pant, if folded evenly. Keep your folds narrow if you want a neater look. The great benefit about rolling your pants up yourself is you can adjust the length to your liking and just roll the pant legs down when summer ends.

So get your full length trousers rolling for the summers!
