Playing the controversial second wife in K Jo’s bold saga – ‘We are Family’, the impression one gets is that Bebo is playing second fiddle to Kajol. But Kareena Kapoor accepts it rather proudly, “So what? At least I am looking my glamorous best! I have a power pact role. Kajol doesn’t get to look that great (loudly) – Sorry Kajol!”
Now that she is back to size 2 from size zero, she refuses to fuss about it and says, “It’s difficult to maintain that (size zero) for a very long time, given the India body type that we have. Also, lifestyle, eating habits and genetics play a very large role. Indian woman are born to be fuller and changing that may not go well with nature in the longer run. Now I have put on a little weight. Does this not look better? I know the size zero media reports were endless, but it was for a few characters only. It’s important to feel healthy and energetic every morning you wake up, as long as I feel that...I am sorted!” However, she agrees that shedding all that baby fat has made her better prepared to carry off most clothes with international style.
She had an interesting choice when it came to picking where she shops from. “I have always been a fan of Zara. More than anything else, I love most of the in-house stuff that they have. It just fits me so well, I just have to look at the size and pick it up.” So what size she does she pick up? - “10 or 12 for tees and shirts, depending upon the brand...and I am not revealing my waistline to you!” I guessed it to be 26 and she said – “keep guessing....”
But wasn’t she invited at the launch of Zara in Mumbai, it was almost like an endorsement, even though Zara doesn’t believe in advertising! So, how do we know if what she is claiming now about the brand is not another promotional stint? “Well, you just have to trust me, or keep guessing that too!”
Manish Malhotra was her pick from the Indian designers. “Many would know my body type and my size and what colour would suit me and all that bookish jazz, but Manish understands my moods. He knows what I want to wear when I am feeling happy or low or neutral. I just need to tell him the occasion and my mood and he will make me look gorgeous. I have blind trust on the man!”
