It gives us great pleasure to bring to you “Fete De La Photo 2014- A Photo Festival in Public Space”. Fete De La Photo is an 11-city (Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmadabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Pondichery, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Goa, Trivandrum and Chandigarh) mega festival organized by Institut Francais en Inde, the French Embassy in India and the Alliance Francaise in India.
Aimed at showcasing the multi-faceted nature of French culture through unique Indo-French co-productions, the festival will be held for a month.
Fête De La Photo will celebrate the great diversity and dynamism of modern-day photography and we request you to lend us your support by featuring the festival in your respected publication.
The USP of the concept is to reach out to the audience by taking photography out of traditional spaces such as museums and galleries and showcase them in public spaces to change the relationship between people and their city. The idea is to explore all avenues to bring together amateur and professional photographers and photography enthusiasts.
The festival in Delhi begins on the 28th of February- National Science Day with ‘Astrophotography’ The other happenings one must look forward to include water screen image projections, a unique music tribute to India and photography exhibitions across several themes, which go from women’s issues, urban living, as also an exhibition on the city of Paris, and arresting images by stellar photographers.
Some highlights of the Fete De La Photo 2014 line-up in Mumbai are:
· A mobile Photo booth that will be showcased in Mumbai at Kala Ghoda from Sunday 2nd to Wednesday 5th February. Anay Mann an expert photographer, will use backdrops of famous French places and venues (like famous restaurants, stade de France, Rolland Garros, Eiffel tower, Montmartre, South of France etc..) and click professional pictures of general public, juxtapose them on to these sites and print the photograph as a souvenir of promoting “Photography” and French hotspots
· ‘Astrophotography’ at the Nehru Planetarium from Thursday, 13th to Thursday, 20th February by internationally renowned astrophotographers Laurent Laveder, Thierry Legault and Ajay Talwar at whose objectives are to blur the sharp divide between scientific astrophotography and artistic photo-journalism
· A great photo treasure hunt all over the city from 1st to 28th February 2014. As photography has been a medium of democratic expression since its conception, Mumbai photo hunt is an attempt to reach out to the audiences through smartphones and social networks, particularly Instagram
