She believes that being spot on style means that wearing something suitable for a particular occasion without trying too hard. It has to be a subtle yet, balanced combination of well thought out and effortless. In an exclusive with Dipannita, she chats with us all through about fashion, latest trends and of course, lists out items from her wardrobe that she can never part with.
a) My Salvatore Ferragamo tote, which is an absolute essential! It can accommodate so many things that I mostly end up over-stuffing it but it’s been my most loyal companion and weathered all that I have put it through. Apart from all my essentials, such as wallet, mobile phone, skin care etc. it can accommodate a book, my I pad and while travelling to cold places, even a woollen cap and a stole!
b) A classic pair of black Moschino peep toe shoes, which are ageless and transcends all barriers of seasonal change in footwear. They look as good worn casually as much as formally. I hold on to them dearly as its one of those difficult to find, perfect pair of shoes.
c) I have these 2 pairs of favourite sunglasses, a pair of Burberry and another by Dior which are an absolute must-have when I'm travelling or just stepping out of the house. The former is a perfect shade of grey- black and the latter is a beautiful tinge of burgundy. I love them so much because they provide perfect protection as much as they make for a perfect fashion accessory!
d) I absolutely adore this particular dress by one of my favourite designers 'Shahab Durazi'. It is one of those classic pieces which never go out of style. It’s beige and understated. The work on it is subtle with an interesting back, which makes it a perfect evening wear. It's one of those outfits which are cut so beautifully that I can just slip it on and feel stylish almost instantly.
e) A pair of slim fit jeans by Armani which I picked up on one of my trips abroad. Fits like a dream yet doesn't eat into your skin. A perfect example of comfort with style! Its fit is such that it can look from casual to formal in an instant.
f) I have this tiny Gucci clutch, which was one of my first luxury designer purchases. It'll always be among my most precious acquisitions!
g) I had purchased these beautiful polki and gold drop earrings for my wedding. Till date, they are my favourite piece of jewellery and I can be caught wearing them with most of my Indian outfits and occasionally western wear as well. Yes, that's how versatile they are, hence my obsession with them!
h) Amongst my Indian wear I love this sari by Masaba Gupta, which is here to stay in my wardrobe for a long time to come. It’s unique, wearable and most importantly defies the conservative style and prints of the sari. That makes it a perfect blend of tradition with modernity, giving me the freedom to drape it the way I like and feel good in.
i) Another pair which I have to absolutely adore is a pair of Louboutin peep-toe ankle tie heels. This pair is white with subtle blue, gold and silver prints on it. It’s just the perfect pair to dress up a simple pair of jeans and white shirt.
j) A high waist pencil black skirt by Karen Millen, which I picked up in London. I just love the fit and the cut. Although it’s tight fitted, it’s not severe and has an extremely feminine, evening feel to it. I just pair it with a chiffon shirt or a top with a soft tie up around the neck to enhance the feminine feel and since I am very fond of the high waist style of clothing, it's one of the prized possessions in my wardrobe.
Well, if we owned even one-half of the items from her closet we would be as emotionally attached if not more with these items. She undoubtedly has an enviable wardrobe that would give any fashionista a run for her money!
