Competition high, but better opportunities for those with full qualifications
Though demand is growing, this is a popular job, so competition for vacancies can be high. Your chances of finding work are best if you have full beauty therapy qualifications, as employers prefer workers who are trained in treatments, such as electrology, that require advanced skills. People with beautician qualifications only – which cover more basic treatments such as facials, waxing and nail treatment – may be restricted to running their own businesses from home, or working at places such as beauty counters in department stores.
