Following the much anticipated CFDA Fashion Awards last night in New York, there were teary acceptance speeches, outrageous outfits and, of course, the elite in the fashion world.

Designers and celebrities turned up in their hundreds to see the highest rated designers of the year recieve their awards at the tenth annual Swarovski CFDA Awards.

It wasnt only designers though that were recognised at the event last night. It also highlighted journalism, creative vision and lifetime achievement. The Media Award was given in honor of Eugenia Sheppard to Hilary Alexander, the Founders Award was given in honor of Eleanor Lambert, the CFDA’s founder to Hal Rubenstein and the Fashion Icon Award was, of course, given to Lady Gaga.

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler took the award for the Womenswear Designer of the Year. The pair stood against Alexander Wang and Marc Jacobs but neither went home empty handed.

Alexander Wang picked up the Accessory Designer of the Year award and Marc Jacobs recieved the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.

Among the other winners was Michael Bastian for Menswear Designer of the Year. Prabal Gurung and Robert Gellar for the Swarovski Award for Women and Mens Wear.
