In spite of the rich tradition, people have turned modern in their outlook which is what Madhavi Pathak, Branch Manager of Tanishq has to say. She says,’Though Tanishq has a range of traditional gold designs; customers prefer polki creations in dull gold with raw and uncut finishing. The trend of designer and fusion gold jewellery is selling like hot pancakes, this Akshaya Tritiya.’
Gold is a safe investing haven and people seem to take that into consideration while choosing their gold. ‘Akshaya Tritiya has a strong religions connotation and though price is a concern, people do and will buy a token quantity of gold for good luck. Price is on the rise and will continue to do so but gold is such a strong contender for investment that people do like to put their money into it. It’s a reliable source of return’, says Jewellery Designer Suhani Pittie.
Akshaya Tritiya could well be a tradition but people’s mindsets are changing these days. He says, ’We offer a variety of designs in gold which are traditional and very contemporary to suit a wide range of customers, however there is a sharp increase in the demand to conver the designs in gold to white gold. White gold is in trend and customers are happy to have their chosen designs in elegant white gold.’
The festival which offers a perfect condition for wealth, power and success is also another occasion to buy gifts for your loved ones and charm them. Trendy jewellery is an instant hit amongst women who love showing off their dazzling sets of gold, diamond. However, ace jewellery designer, Neelam Kothari feels that this festival has lost its charm and is just popularized by buying gold and diamond jewellery. The former actress says,’ Purchasing gold on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya is all about personal preference and what you believe in will bring you oodles of fortune. It is as sacred as Diwali or Karva Chauth and one must not focus on trends. Anyway there are no real trends in gold, the metal has always remained traditional and a symbol of wealth.’
