With seasons changing, it’s time to stock your closet with winter must-haves. It’s that time of the year when dressing gets layered and more accessorised. Unlike the summers when you can flaunt your stylish, trendy body-hugging garments, autumn/winter is about playing with cosy jackets, long booties and colourful scarves. But who said winter dressing has to be boring? Here are few tips to make this winter one to remember...
Keep your style classy with a touch a retro designs. Go for colours such as brown, black, taupe, winter white, shades of grey and dark rich blues. Pastels and shades of gold, red, blue and deep jewel tones are well-suited for the evening look. “Sheath dresses are in fashion for 2012 winters. Get a good pair of solid colour or printed pantsuit for exuding an edgy look. For the casual look, maxi dresses and denims are going to rule,” says designer Abhishek Dutta. Adding more on how to get dramatic, Abhishek says that graphic and embellished clothing can work well. Brands like Dior and Jean Paul Gaultier are the key highlights for 2012. To perfect your casual look, opt for brands like Mango and Promod, and one can also try winter clothing from Zara. Neutral-coloured midi skirts in fabrics like silk, flannel or wool and leather jackets from brands Armani and Versace are a definite must-have.
“Since winters are the bridal season too, women can go for long capes over their shararas or saris. Wear more of leggings with leather effects and don’t miss out on the trench coats from brand Burberry that shall never go out of fashion in winters,” stresses designer Sounia Gohil. To complete the look, team up your clothing with earrings and cuffs or bangles with high boots, exotic scarves from brand Gucci and warmer toned bags.
Go simple yet irresistible. For those who like to keep it understated, fitted trousers and coats can do wonders. The fashionable ones can settle down with dark washed zippered denims, heavy textured linen pants and herringbone or high collar jackets. Shawl collar cardigans, three-piece suits, pea coats and cashmere sweaters are also the trendsetters for this winter. “Try out brands Armani and Alexander McQueen and designers Rocky S and Rahul Gandhi and Rohit Khanna as they are known to have the best winter collections. Dark chocolate, bottle green, charcoal and beige are the preferred colours for this season,” adds Abhishek. Graphic printed wool-blend scarves, antique leather textured shoes, leather brogues and tapered shoes can spice up the winter look.
So gear up and make winters warmer with fashion at its best.
