With India Resort Fashion Week (IRFW) 2012 being the launchpad of her brand, designer Nidhi Munim’s collection promises to enthral its buyers. Keeping it simple yet chic, Nidhi’s pieces are trendy and a must-have in every woman’s wardrobe. From swimsuits to cover-ups, she has designed a collection that will be showcased at the IRFW this year. Very excited about her first show, Nidhi, a music enthusiast too, is also happy that the organisers have fused fashion with music. She also has designs and prints that find its roots in Indian culture. So, let’s take a look at her collection for IRFW 2012.
Inspiration- The collection ‘BayDreams’ is a youthful and a happy line that paints a woman’s body like a canvas. She had previously designed a resort wear line for Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in 2008 that had received great appreciation. It was later stocked at the Wills Lifestyle store. Having assisted ace designers like Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Anita Dongre and Anamika Khanna, her forte has always been resort wear. So, she decided on exercising her passion and dream to become a resort wear designer, and created a line that includes both swimwear and cover-ups.
Colours- Nidhi’s collection can be divided into two sections - one that has used flashy neons with white in the colour pallete, and the other that has beautiful ikkat prints in neon yellow. The ikkat prints strongly speak about her interest and initiative to bring Indian craftsmanship into her designs.
Fabrics- For the entire collection, the designer has sourced pure Italian Lycra fabric from abroad. As resort wear needs to be breathable, the fabric used is soft and comfortable to the skin. Even the prints on the swimwear and cover-ups are waterproof and are of great quality and finesse.
Silhouettes- Delicate and feminine, the collection is sharp, bold and beautiful. From one-shoulder to thin-strapped halter necks, BayDreams suits those women who like to keep it sexy yet suave. You can see prominent hemlines of the maxi-dresses, and low plunging necklines of the jumpers.
Sounds interesting, doesn’t it? With swimwear priced from Rs. 4000-5500, and cover-ups that range from Rs.2000-3000, Nidhi’s collection for the IRFW looks promising enough. You just need to pick those that attract you, and you’ll be all set for a weekend get-a-way or for a long vacation.
